Pita Bu
About This Spot
Stepping into Pita Bu feels like finding a quiet nook where the vibrant, sun-drenched spirit of the Mediterranean gently meets the laid-back rhythm of Malibu’s coastline. The air carries a subtle mingling of warm spices, toasted pita, and freshly prepared vegetables, inviting you to slow down and savor the moment. This spot pulses with a casual, unhurried vibe — a place where friendly faces and thoughtful service make ordering a pita more than just a meal; it’s a small, comforting ritual.
The pace is relaxed but purposeful, reflecting a space that honors tradition and quality without the rush. Here, the hustle of beachgoers and local residents alike fades into the background, replaced by the satisfying sounds of fresh ingredients being assembled and shared laughter from a table nearby. It’s precisely that kind of genuine atmosphere that makes Pita Bu feel like a neighborhood gem, even for visitors wandering the scenic Pacific Coast Highway.
The food experience evolves naturally, with dishes that invite exploration rather than overwhelm. Fresh falafel balls nestle effortlessly inside warm pita pockets, accompanied by crisp radishes, creamy hummus, and vibrant salads that speak to the heart of kosher Mediterranean cuisine without feeling heavy. Whether you're unpacking a perfectly grilled fish kebab or sharing a colorful mezze platter, each bite carries the kind of attentiveness and care that echoes the place’s thoughtful approach to kosher dietary needs and balanced flavors.
There’s an understated joy in watching how a simple falafel wrap or a carefully crafted vegan shawarma pita can transform into a memorable meal, especially when enjoyed while sitting outside on a sunny day or taking a peaceful moment by the nearby Malibu pier. It’s a space attuned to the ebb and flow of the day, perfect for those who appreciate food that’s fresh, flavorful, and made with respect for both tradition and individual needs.
Pita Bu is for anyone looking to connect with vibrant Mediterranean flavors in an approachable, welcoming environment — whether you're stopping by after a beach walk, picking up a thoughtful catering order for friends, or simply seeking a bite that feels both nourishing and familiar. It’s the kind of spot that turns casual dining into a quietly meaningful experience, built on authenticity and small human moments.

This place has delicious food! I ate here while I was in the area visiting family. Lots of hummus and pita platters with salad and veggies, and great fish platters as well. Fish was very tender and well cooked. No meat or dairy. Would highly recommend even if you aren't looking for kosher food.

I loved working with Pita Bu for a catering order! They made everything so easy and helped us order the perfect amount of food. Everyone there is super friendly and so communicative. The food was delicious, ready on time, and the pita bread was out of this world. Definitely recommend!

My first time here. They were still running a summer special which is a falafel wrap, fries, and a beverage. So delicious and fresh! Good quality. The falafel was made just right, not dry, and lots of crunchy vegetables with great flavors. Fries done right and good size portions. I took my food to go and sat on the malibu pier across the street, a beautiful day, and had a delightful meal!

Delicious kosher food. I recommend the falafel wrap and salmon tacos. They were very accommodating to a soy allergy. Parking is crazy limited. I'd order ahead and take it to go. It's worth the trouble.

Great spot off the beach. Ingredients are super fresh. Workers are friendly and smiling. Tons of veggie options. A few fish choices too. Make sure to get the S'chug (spicy) sauce. It's deliciously green.
